A lot of investors find themselves trying to find properties to either purchase, rehab or assign to other investors. While there are many ways to do it, one of the easiest, least-expensive ways is to use business cards. A lot of investors find themselves trying to find properties to either purchase, rehab or assign to other investors. While there are many ways to do it, one of the easiest, least-expensive ways is to use business cards. There are two main ways to use business cards as a part of your marketing strategy – stick them to business card magnets and distribute packs of them at high-traffic locations.

The first thing you have to do is to design the card. You should use the typical heading such as “FAST CASH FOR YOUR HOME”, or “WE BUY HOUSES”, or other slogans, followed by your message, such as “Any price, any condition”, or “Have your money in 15 days”, or whatever else you are going to use. Have the cards done with a yellow background, so they stand out. You can have your logo on the cards, if you use one as part of your marketing strategy. One place to get high-quality cards done inexpensively is at http://overnightprints.com. I recently had 1000 glossy cards done in full color for $50. They felt thicker than normal cards, and had a real quality look to them.

Once you have the card designed, you can get the word out by buying a pack of business card magnets and sticking your card to these magnets, then get the magnets out. Some places where you can stick your business card magnets include gas pumps, bathrooms in restaurants, bars or night clubs, phone booths, elevators, and even tool booths, just to name a few places. If you do a mailing to specific targeted groups (pre-foreclosures, out-of-state owners, contractors, township officials, etc…) insert a business card magnet in the envelope. Let me ask you this, how many times have you ever thrown away a magnet? They get placed on refrigerators, filing cabinets and even on computers. For an average price of 20 cents each, your message stays with your prospect for a long, long time.

Another way to use business card marketing is to buy a bunch of desktop business card holders from an office supply store. You can get these for about 70 cents each. Take a pack of 25 card and go to high-traffic, retail outlets like convenience stores, gas stations, donut shops, pizza places, check cashing places, etc… and ask if you can place a card holder there. Offer the location a small commission if you do business with someone who calls from one of the cards from their location. The way you track this is to put a number on the back of each card, and keep a list of card numbers and locations. You can literally have dozens of these card holders out in a few weeks. Unlike bandit signs, your cards won’t be violating any local ordinances. And, if you pay an average of $50 per 1000 cards, you will have no more than $2 invested in materials at any one location ($1 for 20 cards and less than a buck for the card holder).
