I created this topic so that we could easily access the phone and fax #’s of the ‘loss mitigation department’ at lending institutions.

I know what a hassle it can be to get the phone/ fax #’s for ‘loss mitigation’ I had to make 5 calls one afternoon to get the #for just one lender.

Just go down through the list and if you have a phone/fax # not yet on the list then please post it on the board. We can all help eachother at this and together make an easy reference guide.

I will start the list off with what little I have:

Washington Mutual- Loss Mitigation
Phone: 800-496-9633
Fax: 818-775-2010

Bank of New York- Loss Mitigation
Phone: 212-495-1784
Fax: 212-415-2035

Hi,
for clarification purposes, Loss Mitigation is the department that you deal with to negotiate a short sale or is it the area that you can obtain information from about property that is going into foreclosure?

Great idea. I started yesterday to call around for the same purpose.

I do know that Chase doesn't allow short sales from their "recorded message."

They must do them, but they won't give out any information unless you have an owner's name and address first.

MERSinc (do a search, I'm not senior yet, so I can't post URL.) has a website that gives REO properties. They do ask for membership fees to release the list. However, they give partial details for free. That was enough for me to find two houses yesterday.

I've never tried to call but my wife works for Wells Fargo and she gave me the Loss Mitigation #.
Its either 800 or 888.231.0757

Someone call it and tell me what they get.

Verne

jcattin - thanks for posting this topic. I hope others will add the phone/fax numbers that they have. I'm in search of CitiMortgage's Loss Mitigation phone and fax numbers. They keep giving me a toll free number that never gets answered. Anybody have the right number?

rottzilla - I looked into the MERS site but could not find anything about reo's there. Are you sure they have a list?

Steve

Tried to call this number, but it is a general contact number to Wells Fargo. I've been trying 1800-352-7654, but it's just a recording which gives you your website to visit -- ****Must Reach Senior Investor status before posting URL's*** If you visit that website, it doesn't have any phone numbers -- very frustrating. I also tried the yellow pages and they do not list their number there either. Can your wife be of any further assistance?
