I am a new investor trying to run credit reports on potential tenants . The on-line services I have cantacted so far wants so much information from me that I would have to be a licensed Proerty Manager or produce deeds, tax info etc. for each property I want to rent out., and meet a security inspection request to insure records are properly kept ****Must participate a while before posting URL's***here must be an easier way.

You could request a credit report be supplied by the prospective tennant -obtained from the www.internet.Then offer a remebursement of the $15 if you accept them.
Ask them to go to- www.myfico.com - to obtain a report.
and have them print it out .This shows a serious intent on their part & helps you quickly evaluate them.
This will eliminate a lot of poss. renters, but also
shows they're for real. just a suggestion!
Mark

I use National Tenant Network. I give a form to the potential renter, they fill it out, I fax it to NTN, they do the research, and send me a form back. Costs about $35.00 for a full report. Google them for their website...

I would suggest www.rentsafe.com. It has a seperate section for independant owners.

I use saferent. I did have to submit information like you are saying, but they need it to verify you are not going to use information for wrongful purposes. Saferent gives you a rating according to the credit, background, and other various things. Then you can evaluate it from there using their "risk score" and your own judgement. Total cost for everything is $35.00 per adult. One thing that I learned to pass on to you. Make sure that you select a company that does backgrounds in your state. Rentsafe does not do backgrounds in California.
