Home Depot, nor anywhere, has the standard window blinds that my rental has. There are 11 windows. I would rather not use curtains. Plus, I will not buy custom blinds because they are too expensive. What should I do? One idea is to have two blinds per window...doesn't that look ugly???

Personally, if the blinds are hung correctly, I have seen two blinds together in a large double hung window look good. I still would check out www.americanblinds.com and look at their generic name brand, those are pretty inexpensive for simply custom mini blinds. It may still be worth it took take a couple of the 11 windows and price them on their website. That is who we use for all of our rentals.

Can't think of any creative ideas other than the blinds but you may want to go to HGTV's website and do a search on window coverings to see if they offer inexpensive solutions.

Best of luck,

You can use verticals homedepot can cut them for you not sure how cost effective it is. I just spent 1200 on custom blinds for my home I couldn't imanage spending that on a rental. On top of the money it took a month to get the blinds.

If you're doing inside mount, buy the blinds a couple inches too big and cut each slat down with a pair of tin snips. Cut equal amounts from each end.

Of course, I'm curious what widths you can't find. Unless the windows are really (really) wide, you can usually just go wider and make it work. If you're going with cheap mini-blinds, box stores like Target often have WAY lower prices than HD.

I wonder if you could commission a local struggling sewer to whip up a batch of custom roman shades for you, cheap. They look pretty easy to make.

between an outside mount and home depot cutting their cheapo blinds to any size - i am curious how you can not find the right blind size.

Hi - I bought blinds for my whole house from Ebay. Several wholesales of nice looking white faux wood blinds selling materials that they simply cut to your specs.
