The CFM credential assures professional expertise and establishes standards of practice for the facility management profession worldwide.
Prior to certification, candidates must first meet defined educational and work experience criteria. Successful candidates then pass a comprehensive exam, which tests their mastery of the nine core competencies of the profession. These competencies are operation & maintenance, real estate, human & environmental factors, planning & project management, leadership & management, finance, quality assessment & innovation, communication, and technology.
This certification was established in 1992 by IFMA and is highly regarded as an industry standard for ensuring the knowledge and abilities of practicing facility managers and the only global facilities management certification available. The CFM credential sets the industry standard for ensuring the knowledge and abilities of practicing facility managers. Currently, there are only about 3,500 facility managers from 25 countries who have achieved this prestigious recognition.
