Atwell-Hicks Goes National; CEO Relocates to Tampa to Lead Expansion of First Non-Midwest Office

ANN ARBOR, MI -- Atwell-Hicks, one of the fastest growing land development consulting firms in the nation, announced today the opening of its first office outside of the Midwest in Tampa, Florida. CEO Robert G. Macomber, PE/PS, is relocating to the Tampa Bay area to lead the expansion that will launch the company's national growth strategy.

"We selected Florida primarily because of the wealth of land development opportunities and because of existing client relationships in several Florida markets," said Macomber. "Our research determined that the question here was not whether enough demand existed, but how quickly we will need to grow to meet that demand."

Atwell-Hicks Regional Vice President Terry G. Simpson, certified professional services marketer, said that the company began an aggressive expansion drive in the early 1990s. Six of the firm's seven current offices, including Tampa, have been established in the past 10 years of their 100-year history. "Through strategic planning we decided expansion to Tampa would allow Atwell-Hicks to continue this phenomenal growth in the months and years to come."

Macomber added that the firm is actively researching additional markets in Florida, as well as the Southeast and Southwest. He expects additional expansions to be announced in the near future. "Growth is my passion," said Macomber. "My main goal is to continue expanding Atwell-Hicks' services, expertise and presence, and opportunities for our employees and our clients."

Simpson said Macomber's involvement has increased opportunities for senior-level meetings and business development. The Tampa office already has nearly $1 million in work under contract and in proposal phases. The firm expects to hire 30 employees by the end of the year.

The Tampa office is located at 4301 Anchor Plaza Parkway, Suite 125; phone, 813.888.9500.
