(October 14, 2004) -- Countrywide Home Loans Inc. once again ranked first in minority lending for 2003, followed by Wells Fargo and Washington Mutual, according to analysis of data submitted in accordance with the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act.

Countrywide purchased and originated 65.5 percent more minority loans than in 2002, with originations to African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, and Native Americans totaling $74.7 billion. Countrywide
