If you're an American (or any non-Mexican) planning to buy real estate in Mexico, you're bound to find yourself doing plenty of research. real estate investing requires a lot of homework, even within your own country. But when you add to that the unfamiliarity of a new country, the learning curve becomes even steeper.
My hope is that this article, and the websites listed herein, will save you time and energy in your research endeavors. So without further
ado, here are five resource websites to start with:
Resource #1 - www.MexOnline.com
www.MexOnline.com calls itself "the oldest, most trusted online guide to Mexico accommodations, activities, business, culture, history, real estate, tours and travel." It's certainly one of the most informative, offering city guides, cultural information, and even a listing of real estate agents throughout Mexico.

Resource #2 - www.Mexperience.com
This is another great resource for learning about Mexico, with a wealth of travel and lifestyle information. Visit the real estate section for tips on buying, selling and renting real estate in Mexico. According to www.Mexperience.com: "This guide has been created to help you gain a good grounding of the essential facts and topics to consider when you're planning to buy or rent real estate in Mexico."

Resource #3 - International Living
International Living is a website that lives up to its name. According to publisher Kathleen Peddicord: "We search the world over continually to find the best opportunities for you to invest in a new home or a new life..." From the home page, scroll down the left-hand navigation menu until you see a list of countries, and then click on Mexico.

Resource #4 - U.S. State Department Website
When planning to travel abroad -- too any country -- it's a good idea to stop by the State Department's travel website. From the home page, do a search for "Mexico" and look for a document labeled "Tips for Travelers to Mexico" or something similar. This will lead you to a lot of in-depth information regarding passports and other legal matters.

This website features the book, "How to Buy Real Estate in Mexico," by Dennis John Peyton. Mr. Peyton is an American licensed to practice law in both the U.S. and Mexico. His book is often referred to as a "must read" for Americans (or any foreigner, for that matter) planning to buy real estate in Mexico.
